A Calisthenics Educational Institution is a place where people can gain an education to be a certified trainer, official jury member or even a competitive elite athlete. These programs can be followed in well utilized accommodations, indoors as well as outdoors and online. The learning environment can refer to an educational approach, cultural context, or physical setting in which teaching and learning take place. In a public sense, learning environments may refer to the culture of the population it serves and of their location. The Educational Institutions are highly diverse in use, learning styles, organization, location and learning environment. The culture and context of the Institutions include factors as a way of thinking, behaving, working; operational characteristics of the instructors or athletes, group instructors and the philosophy or knowledge as experienced by the students. It also may surround a variety of philosophy in learning styles and pedagogies used, how individuals interact. And of course where the society culture and teaching is taking place.
Each Educational institution provides elite athletes with a range of specialist facilities, equipment, expertise and residential accommodation suitable for training methods or preparing competing athletes. The Institutions also offer full facilities for the general public including open days and workshops, as well as beginner- and advanced programs in most of the activities that take place at each site.
Some of the institutes are included in the sports academy network and serve as coaching centres for athletes. Their purpose is to support athletes in combining studies, training and competition preparations. Calisthenics institutes also provide training for Calisthenics club/gym instructors, coaches and staff in cooperation with sport and physical activity organisations (fitness branche ). The institutes can receive government financing based upon their educational task. Funding is allocated in the form of central government transfers but can also be privately funded and operating with a company structure providing its type of education. Calisthenics training centres may also be granted discretionary government aid for development projects and the construction of sports facilities (certified Calisthenics parks ). This all depends on its policy. Central government encourages educational sports institutions to acquire and share knowledge, so that people involved in the sport professionally have reliable information and can keep up with the latest scientific insights.
Given the wide variations in Calisthenics educational systems and Institutions curricula it is not surprising that there is a substantial variation between (and even within) the countries. In some countries the Calisthenics institutions are part of a national strategy/system, while others have several independent schools that are permitted local flexibility to take care of elite athletes, trainers or jury members, being not part of a national system. However, in all cases the institutions cater for substantial numbers of elite Calisthenics athletes/trainers/jury members in systematic ways, rather than providing ad hoc arrangements for a limited number of people.
And let’s not forget that certain educational programs online are growing fast in this digitalized world we live in. Being available to the interested public is a necessity. Providing theoretical knowledge and specific physical training methods.
