A gymnasium, also known as a gym, is a covered location for athletes. The word is derived from the ancient Greek gymnasium. They are commonly found in athletic and fitness centres, and as activity and training spaces in educational institutions. “Gym” is also slang for “fitness centres”, which is often an area for indoor recreation.
Calisthenics Gyms have indoor Calisthenics parks, Calisthenics equipment, free weights or any other extra Calisthenics accessories. The use of machines can be also available in these gyms even though their main purpose is based on pure bodyweight training throughout Calisthenics.
A Calisthenics gym is an environment where various forms of strength training are being practiced. Identified from left to right the exercises are: Basics, Reps & Sets, Dynamics, Combos, Statics, Routine, Freestyle and Weighted Calisthenics. These training sessions involve the performance of physical exercises which are designed to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, mobility and full body control This all can be practised in different forms with or without extra weights. Within the gyms are various training possibilities from recreational/instructional to competitive. The Gyms often offer programs for children/adults, beginners and professional athletes. Also the indoor locations provide a secure/professional Calisthenics sports environment where an athlete can train during the whole year of his sport no matter how bad the weather is. Within the gym there is a competitive structure where competitions throughout the whole year on a regional/district level are being held. The winners of these competitions go finally to the national championships and so on after winning it to the international championships. The gyms can provide its own competitive crews as well as individual elite athletes.
Next to this competitive aspect, in any Calisthenics gym approachability towards its members is of great importance to activate the basic sporty members and any other individual who is interested in starting to train on a daily basis. The Calisthenics Gyms are for- profit organizations based on a one- ownership structure.
