What does Calisthenics provide you with?
I started with calisthenics in the NoXcuse crew (founder: Papito). My main focus is on powerlifting since last year i started participating in powerlift competitions. But when i joined the NoXcuse crew i noticed that calisthenics is a sport that can be combined well with my other sport. The combination of these two sports means that you develop an enormous amount of strength but also flexibility.
What is your specialty / style?
Strict form exercises because it allows me to develop skills that I can use in my powerlift performance.
How often do you train, with what – and how?
Right now I am training for the Dutch Championship powerlifting in December 2020. My training requires a lot of energy, strenght and effort. So when i am training for a competition, i perform less calisthenics, sometimes a little bit of the basics so the risk of getting a injury is less.
How do you prepare for a competition battle?
I did one competition (strict form battle push-up) i just started with calisthenics and i ended 3rd place. But for now it is not something i want to do. You never now maby in the future.
How far do you go for the sports and where’s the boundary?
Sport is my passion the combination of powerlifting and calisthenic has made me incredibly strong. I want to show everyone that you don’t have to choose one sport because you can be good at several things. By working hard, putting in the effort and not giving up, you can achieve almost everything.
Who is your example athlete? Why?
I don’t really have examples of athletes that I look up to. I think you should focus on yourself and see what you can achieve and what you can do for others. That way you can help each other to grow.
