Right now I’m practising Calisthenics for about 5 years. Before that I had already done fitness ofcourse and because of that I learned about Calisthenics. Right away I thought: that’s what I wanna do. So I started practising more and more and I met a lot of people who were also into Calisthenics. At one point we asked if they could build a Calisthenics park and they did. Because I really wanted to give something back for that, as a counter offer I started helping people to workout in a responsible way.

This sport really changed my personality and my way of living, in a good way! A man just has to be strong I think, and this is the best way to achieve it. Ofcourse it’s also an amazing sport if you haven’t got the time to go to the gym.

What make Calisthenics such a beautiful sport

sociability, friendship and the fact that everyone is open to helping and supporting eachother. There are no big ego’s. Even with matches, you are competing against eachother, but still your component will cheer for you. Ofcourse you want to win, but you still think the other one deserves it aswell.

How accessible is Calisthenics

Very accessible, really it’s for everyone. It has such a wide range. Most people immediatly think about difficult exercises, but just look at planking, just simply get on your ellbows, plank and hold. That’s also calisthenics. So, really there’s an exercise for everyone to do and that’s what makes it so accessible for anyone.

Calisthenics talent in Holland

We really do have som great talent in Holland. Ofcourse in foreign countries they’re doing it a lot longer, but the Netherlands really is rising. You even see it more and more on tv lately. For instance Melanie has been on the tv a few times now, so that’s what gives it a little more publicity now. So, yeah I do think we have enough talent in the Netherlands and we also have enough possibilties to develop new talent.

Why not? Haha. No really, I can be short and concise on this one, why not?

Calisthenics like an Olympic sport

At the one hand I think this could be a possibilty, but on the other hand I think we’re not quite ready for it yet. There’s not really a good regulation at the moment… You have different contests here and there and they all have different rules. Stil I think it should fit in quite well.
